CS ICT visit to DeKUT

The Cabinet Secretary Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) Mr. Joe Mucheru visited Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) today (9th September, 2016). He discussed with the Vice Chancellor how the University’s Innovation and Incubation Centre (DeHUB) can be scaled up so that students’ innovations can be more readily translated to successful ventures. DeHUB was launched in March 2016 by the then Cabinet Secretary ICT, Dr. Fred Matiang’i as the only innovation hub in the central region. Since its formation it has incubated several projects with the potential of growing into useful enterprises contributing to National Development. Through DeHUB, DeKUT has managed to inculcate the culture of Innovation in her students

The Cabinet Secretary looked at integration of Information Technology and Innovation for both hardware and software development, Information Technology for 3D animation and integration of Information Technology into convectional practices like greenhouse management. These are areas DeKUT is already exploring through the centre. Information Technology is affecting our day to day operations in the current era of advancement in technology and DeKUT is on the forefront in effectively using the change to the advantage of this great nation and beyond
